Biography:
Ramani Duraiswami is a professor of computer science with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
His research in audio and computational acoustics aims to replicate human spatial sound processing in machines, using insights from physical mechanisms, computing and experiments. In scientific computing, Duraiswami works on solving large-scale problems with approximation algorithms and parallel computing, focusing on improving speed with advanced algorithms and multicore architectures.
