Heng Huang is a professor of computer science with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
His research spans machine learning, AI, data mining, biomedical data science, computational neuroscience, and smart healthcare. Huang pioneered algorithms for breaking backward locking in backpropagation and led advancements in asynchronous distributed learning, federated learning, and multimodal imaging-omics data integration.
