Professor, Computational Linguistics
Philip Resnik is an MPower Professor of linguistics with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies and an affiliate appointment in the Department of Computer Science.
His approach to computational linguistics involves bringing together machine learning methods with human knowledge to answer scientific questions and develop applications with real-world impact. Resnik is currently investigating the role of context in sentence understanding using techniques from computational psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics, and developing and applying NLP and AI methods for understanding and addressing mental health issues.
