Dave Levin is an associate professor of computer science with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
His research focuses on securing the Internet amidst the diverse interests of commercial entities and billions of users. Levin’s work involves empirically measuring Internet security to identify vulnerabilities and applying economics and cryptography to design new systems with provable and usable security. His key areas of study include the web’s public key infrastructure, censorship avoidance and Domain Name System root servers.
