Kyle Brumfield

Kyle Brumfield is a visiting postdoctoral associate at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) working with Rita Colwell. He explores microbial ecology using molecular and metagenomic techniques. Brumfield’s research centers on the genotypic and phenotypic analysis of clinical and environmental bacterial isolates, with a particular focus on Vibrio spp. He also investigates how environmental factors shape pathogen occurrence and transmission, working to identify predictive risk factors for disease in the context of climate change.
