Ilaria Canavotto is a postdoctoral associate at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) working with John Horty. She is focused on research at the intersection of AI and law, as well as machine ethics. Canavotto is particularly interested in temporal logics of agency, deontic logic, and epistemic logic, especially in relation to the analysis of causality, responsibility and normative systems. Through her work, Canavotto aims to deepen our understanding of how legal and ethical frameworks can be integrated with AI technologies.
