New Quantum Information Center in UMIACS Highlighted in Diamondback Article

The Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS), the newest of 16 centers and labs in UMIACS, was highlighted in an article in the Diamondback student newspaper.

Amitabh Varshney, director of UMIACS, was quoted in the article as saying: "Our campus has really taken a big leap forward in systematically taking a comprehensive view of quantum computing, and this center will play a critical role in the quantum computing research.”

QuICS is a research partnership between the University of Maryland and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, with the support and participation of the Research Directorate of the National Security Agency/Central Security Service.
