Classification
algorithms based on supervised learning are commonly used by many
searchers in computer science and electrical engineering. However,
everyone seems to have a few recipes, and use them on all problems
without paying much attention to other possible methods. In this
talk, I will try to point out what makes the difference between
any two supervised classifiers, and will briefly review the most
commonly used algorithms. I will consider statistical pattern
recognition algorithms as well as traditional machine learning
techniques. I hope that this presentation will raise some curiosity
and eventually lead one to extend his personal cookbook.
