Bugs in ViPER-GT (and Feature Requests)

• Software will deadlock when seeking through MPEG files.
• The software does not support an Undo feature.
• After long periods of use, seeking to frames sometimes results in a blank canvas.
• Switching to "Big Image" view may make program stop responding.
• Main window doesn't redraw after switching to "Big Image" mode.
• Menu options display under 'Propagate' rather than over it.
• Manual changes in editable values not always shown automatically.
• Sometimes there are problems with the display after minimizing or resizing.
• Selecting boxes to edit and selecting which corner/edge to move are tricky and error-prone processes.
• Editing a box should be more conventional, including drag handles and so forth.
• "Dump Image" and "Create Movie" options do nothing.
• An unnecessary _DUMP directory gets created whenever a new media file is opened.
• Enable selection of more than one object at a time, e.g. for moving, etc.
• Redesign the object panel to include OntoLog-type views.
• Make lines and graphic overlays appear in auto-zoom window.
• Include a FILE descriptor tab in the object table.
• Allow selection of all attributes of an object, eg all face points.
• Autosave functionality.
• Improve hotkeys. Allow using arrows without control, and make a user interface for specifying them, or pick some and grant affordances to find them (in the form of tooltips).
• Thumbnail view.
• Allow video playback.
• Increasing zoom should center around the current object, or at least around the center of the current view.
• Display the name of the current file somewhere (e.g. in the title bar).
• Somehow allow enhanced color of boxes, e.g. allow the bbox to take a fifth/sixth parameter: color. Useful for viz.
• Implement Brightness/Contrast controls
• Should be able to copy/paste in object table.
• Using the full install, images on buttons don't always appear.

Bugs in ViPER-PE

• Relation attributes/descriptors are not currently supported. There is no rush to add this, as it is not yet available in ViPER-GT.
• MULTIPLE cropping is innaccurate for certain types of data. For example, what does it mean to merge two strings? two points? Also, there is some question about how to score two merging objects.
• Some metrics are calculated using arbitrary weights and normalizing functions. These should be able to be set by the user.
• The current .epf format has many deficiencies relating to filters and equivalencies. For more detail, see the viper/pe/docs/README file.

Bugs in Supporting Programs

• Overlay tools (among others) do not support XML format.
• makeGraph.pl is dependent on an out of date version of the GD library.
