MERIT: Mpeg Encoded Retrieval and Indexing Toolkit
Overview
MERIT is a package that performs video segmentation by identifying
breaks or cuts in an MPEG encoded video clip. It can also be used for
performing additional tasks such as motion analysis for detecting global camera
motion, extracting estimated DC coefficients of all types of frames, extracting
flow vector information, etc. Currently, our dissolve and other special effect
detection algorithms have not been incorporated into the MERIT system.
Also, the actual indexing and retrieval components need to be incorporated.
Currently, these capabilities exist outside the MERIT system.
